London's slimmest house weighs in at £450,000

It's the kind of property where you feel you might have to breathe in when you enter the door – this slimline property in south-east London is reckoned to be one of the narrowest in town, measuring just 99 inches, or 8ft 3 across, at its widest part. It gets even skinnier at the back, where the galley kitchen is a mere 62 inches, or 5ft 2 across, but despite its slender proportions, the 466sq ft property in Denmark Hill was put on the market for £450,000.

The estate agent's details claim it offers "a spacious living area", and that's probably true if you resemble Mr Skinny. Anyone else will have to be pretty neat and tidy if they want any room to swing a cat. In a location like this, unlike the property, would-be buyers are not thin on the ground, and the estate agent selling it told the Evening Standard he thought it would "go pretty quickly".

He was right – one buyer has narrowed down where they want to live to this streamline pad and it is under offer less than two weeks after going on the market. The agent won't say how much it went for, but in today's bloated market it's possible someone made a fat profit.
