Brick Lane’s famous Beigel Bake is teaming up with Pizza Pilgrims to serve a salt beef pizza throughout July.
The Neapolitan pie is made with Campian mozzarella, Beigel Bake’s classic salt beef, crunchy pickles and English mustard, and with sesame seeds sprinkled on the crust.
The partnership comes as Pizza Pilgrims looks to promote its latest outlet in the Truman Brewery, which opened in May. The location is the brand’s 22nd in the UK — hot on the heels of Franco Manca — as expansion continues apace.
But the dish also represents London’s buzzing food landscape, combining a centuries-old tradition, east London salt beef, with a newer addition to the scene, Neapolitan pizza.
“Beigel Bake is an East London institution, so teaming up with them for our Brick Lane menu is a dream,” said Pizza Pilgrims co-founder James Elliot.
“Salt beef on a pizza? Turns out it’s ridiculously delicious.”
It could well be. The pie, made with ingredients delivered from Beigel Bake each morning, is available at Pizza Pilgrims off Brick Lane until the end of month. At £15, it’s punchy, but probably fair in price.
