London Road closure leading to major disruption for drivers after policeman knocked down

Drivers are facing major disruption in Glasgow's east end.

London Road remains closed to motorists in both directions after a policeman was knocked down between Westhorn Drive and A763 Carmyle Avenue just before 11am this morning.

As reported by Glasgow Live, the officer was taken to hospital with serious leg injuries following the incident, after he attended a report of a broken down vehicle.

Emergency services were at the scene shortly after and have closed the road at the stretch around McDonald's.

Congestion is currently backed up to Carmyle Avenue as it approaches the A74.

UPDATE 18:07: London Road has now reopened to traffic.
