Trains between London Paddington and Maidenhead are facing major disruption after a person was hit by a train at Maidenhead Station.

All lines between the stations were blocked earlier today while emergency services and the British Transport Police (BTP) responded to the incident.

The lines have now reopened but train services may be cancelled or delayed, with disruption expected until 9pm, Great Western Railway said.

Tickets will be accepted on CrossCountry services between Reading and Banbury in both directions, it added.

Passengers can also take Chiltern Railway services between Banbury and London Marylebone in both directions.

GWR tickets will also be accepted on London Underground services and bus routes.

There were also cancellations and delays earlier on services between Twyford and Henley-on-Thames after a train broke down earlier in the day.

In an update tweet at 5pm, a spokesman for GWR said: "Following a person being hit by a train between London Paddington and Maidenhead earlier, all lines between the two stations have now re-opened.

"Trains will be subject to delays and alterations while we work to recover our service."

BTP said that they are not treating the incident as suspicious.

A spokesperson from BTP said: "British Transport Police were called at 2.04pm on 12/12 to Maidenhead station following a report of a casualty on the tracks.

"Officers and paramedics are in attendance but sadly, a person has died at the scene.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious. "
