Campaigning for the London mayoral election officially got underway on Monday, though unofficially the machinations leading to May’s vote have been going on for rather a while.
Polling suggests a two-horse race between Labour’s Sadiq Khan and the Conservative Zac Goldsmith, though voters will also need to weigh up the relative merits of the other candidates, including Caroline Pidgeon of the Lib Dems, the Greens’ Sian Berry, Peter Whittle of Ukip, and George Galloway, standing for the Respect party.
The poll takes place on 5 May, when voters also get the chance to decide on the members of the London Assembly.
