The Mayor of London Sadiq Khan says he is keen for the upcoming fight between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury to take place at Wembley Stadium.
A venue and date is yet to be confirmed for the mouthwatering clash, and Fury recently tweeted suggesting that a deadline for the decision is due this weekend.
Despite the likes of Saudi Arabia and Qatar being the early favourites to host the bout, Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn recently suggested the 90,000 capacity Wembley could still be in the running.
He told Sky Sports: "When you look at the Wembley option, which is still teetering around. Maybe unrealistic, but it's another option that we'd like to present."
And in an interview with SNTV , Khan said he would welcome the idea of such an anticipated sporting event taking place in the capital of the UK.
"I'm keen to see Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury," Khan said. "Wouldn't it be great to see those two champions boxing amongst their own fans?
"We'll do what we can to support Eddie. If Eddie and the teams want the fight in London, we're ready."
Hearn has claimed that every option will be presented to both fighters by the end of the week, and he hit back at criticism from the Fury camp, including his father John, over the delay in the announcement.
"At the end of this week both fighters and the teams will be presented with all the offers and options on the table, which there will be multiple ones," Hearn added.
"We're in a good place. I saw John Fury's comments. It's almost like they don't really want the fight. I'd like them to talk it up, rather than talk it down."
"A little bit of support would be nice, John and Tyson, thank you very much."
