London Marathon: Bosses hope Mo Farah will return to race after Olympic swansong

London Marathon bosses are hoping to lure Mo Farah back to the elite race after his Olympic swansong next year.

Farah gave up his marathon ambitions to return to the track and bid for an Olympic gold in the 10,000metres this summer for a Games which has since been shifted by a year.

On Sunday, the Londoner makes a one-off return to the road to pacemake for the British elite runners in the men’s field.

But London Marathon boss Hugh Brasher said he hoped for Farah to tackle the full 26.2mile distance again in the future.

He said: “It’s not a conversation we’re having right now. What his goals are I think he is the only person that will decide what they are. But we would love to have him back.”

Farah has a long association with London Marathon having run in the mini events as a youngster in the capital but has struggled over the full marathon distance against the best from Ethiopia and Kenya. He enjoyed a best finish of third in London back in 2018.
