The London Marathon takes place on Sunday and to ensure the more than 56,000 runners can safely complete the 26.2-mile route major roads will be closed throughout the day.
The race crosses five London boroughs: Greenwich, Southwark, the City of London, Tower Hamlets and Westminster, so has a widespread impact.
Here’s a full breakdown of everything you need to know about road closures on the day.
Which roads are closed for the London Marathon 2025?
Closed roads will be marked with yellow road closure signs on the day. To help you plan, we’ve outlined the roads below.
Please note that roads close at different times, and not all will be closed for the entire day.
Canary Wharf (8am-8.30pm):

Blackheath and Charlton:

As well as those road closures, Queen Anne’s Gate between Broadway and the entrance to St James’s Park will be shut to the public.
If your car is parked on any of the affected roads on April 27, it will be removed.
Organisers are urging drivers to move their vehicles by the evening of Saturday, April 26 as removals begin as early as 4am on marathon day.
