London Marathon 2019: Eliud Kipchoge wins elite men's race as Mo Farah finishes fifth

World record holder Eliud Kipchoge of Kenya has won the London Marathon elite men's race for a record fourth time.

Kipchoge's record-breaking achievement meant disappointment for Sir Mo Farah, who could only finish fifth.

Kipchoge, the winner in 2015, 2016 and last year, smashed his own course record in a time of two hours, two minutes and 37 seconds.

Already the world record holder, the 34-year-old won in the second fastest time ever, ahead of Ethiopians Mosinet Geremew and Mule Wasihun.

Farah could not live with the pace and finished a distant fifth.
