London Marathon 2019 celebrity runners: Mark Wright and Kirsty Gallacher to race for charity

The London Marathon will welcome 40,000 runners as they pound the streets of the capital and they will be in famous company.

Plenty of famous faces are set to join in the 26.2 mile run to raise money for different charities.

On Sunday, Virgin Radio host Chris Evans will be returning for a fifth time hoping to beat his best time of 4 hours 39 minutes from back in 2016, running for his chosen cause Children in Need.

He will be joined by the likes of TV presenters Mark Wright, Kirsty Gallacher, Helen Skelton, Jenni Falconer and Charlie Webster, as well as Bake Off winner Candice Brown, marathon regular Nell McAndrew, and YouTuber Saffron Barker as they pound the city streets.

Comedians Adbullah Afzal, Rob Deering, Ed Gamble, Paul Tonkinson will also be trying their hand at the famous race on the 28th April.

Cycling stars Matt Brammeier and his wife Nikki will join the list of fellow sports stars like footballer Marcus Bean who is running his seventh marathon, footballer Paul Konchesky, retired womens' footballer Katie Chapman, and hockey player Hannah Macleod.

There's also former Wimbledon winner Amélie Mauresmo, triple Olympic medal cyclist Chris Newton and rugby league star Jamie Peacock MBE, football commentator Jonathan Pearce, and former rugby league player Keith Senior.

EastEnders' star Natalie Cassidy's heartbreaking wish for Barbara Windsor

TOWIE newbie Saffron Lempriere, actors Leon Ockenden and Cel Spellman, and singer Laura Wright will also be sweating it out around the course.

Barbara Windsor's husband Scott Mitchell will be running in honour of his wife who is suffering from Alzheimer's.

He will be joined by her former EastEnders' colleagues Jake Wood, Adam Woodyatt, Kellie Shirley to raise money as part of 'Barbara's Revolutionaries' for Dementia Revolution.

The group, which also includes Jake Wood, Emma Barton, Natalie Cassidy, Tanya Franks, Jamie Borthwick and Jane Slaughter, are hoping to raise £100,000 for the charity.

Dementia Revelation is a charity launched by Alzheimer's Society and Alzheimer's Research UK who have teamed up to raise money and awareness for new research.

Just weeks ago, Scott revealed on Loose Women that he hoped she would be able to attend the event and greet him at the finish line.

But after recently opening up on her deteriorating health, Scott has now revealed on Good Morning Britain s Barbara Windsor's Alzheimer's is too far gone to be at Marathon finish line, says husband , but instead from her home.
