London man flies to Morocco for a haircut to save money

A Londoner has flown from the capital to Morocco to get his hair cut as he claims it’s cheaper than going locally.

Muscab Salad, 22, was looking for a new haircut before flying to Barcelona and wanted a better price than the £41 he usually pays.

He said that since Arab countries are known for their barbers he decided to take a look at flights on Skyscanner, spotted one to Morocco and snapped it up for £15.

Footage shows Muscab hopping on a flight on October 7, getting a £6 taxi and landing in a plush-looking hostel in Marrakech that costs just £10.

Muscab can then be seen wandering down a street, spotting a barbershop and getting a haircut for £8.

The content creator admitted he was nervous about the result as he's loyal to his barber back home but was happy with how it turned out.

Muscab's trip to the barber in London cost £41 in total, £35 getting his hair done and £6 on travel, while his Morocco jaunt, including flights, travel and a haircut cost £39.

Muscab, from west London, said: "My barber charges £35, I think that's the average price for London. I tend to get my haircut in the UK and I'm loyal to my barber but thought it was a good idea to go abroad.

"It's kind of fun to get a haircut when you're on holiday. I went to Skyscanner and flights to Marrakech were £15. I went to the hostel, went walking and found a haircut.

"I was happy with the result, it was just as good [as haircuts back home]. I'd recommend [as] you get a free holiday. I think it's fun, it's way cheaper and you get more of an experience. Barbers are associated with Arab countries... so you should definitely do that, you get an experience out of it.

"Some people were surprised about how this was possible. They have very different income levels, it's just a better deal to go to Morocco. There was a language barrier but it wasn't too bad, I went to Barcelona for £12 after."

Muscab posted footage of his travels on TikTok, with the caption “is it possible to fly to Morocco and get a haircut for cheaper than a haircut in London?”

The clip has racked up more than 100,000 views, with some commenting that the trip is a good idea, while others suggested you could find cheaper haircuts in London.

One commenter wrote: "I actually thought about this a few times before. I get a really good haircut from the same barber every time I'm in Morocco for 50dh (£4) and thought to myself 'I could fly to Morocco and it would still be cheaper than London'."

A second commented: "Price to go to Morocco is cheaper than the price of a haircut in London."

A third wrote: "I'm a hairdresser. My son got the best fade in Tunisia for next to nothing. All you have to do is check out the locals' hair and you will know."

A fourth commented: "The point isn't just the haircut. It's a holiday too. I enjoyed watching this. I do a beard trim too so this would deffo be worthwhile for me."

Not everyone agreed it was a good deal, suggesting he could find cheaper in the UK and that he overpaid in Morocco.

One wrote: "It's £15 in London for a haircut and you can find them for cheaper."

Another commented: "You got scammed. A haircut in Morocco costs £3."
