London Living Wage campaign

Sunny Hundal went to last week's Kings College launch of the London Living Wage campaign. He learned many interesting things, such as:

A representative from LSE recounted how their group had to run a guerilla PR campaign to force the uni through with their promises. This even involved demonstrating at recruitment fairs where companies that didn't pay the LLW came to recruit. It embarassed the university and employers: things moved quicker.

Sunny's full account for Liberal Conspiracy is here and includes a link to the Compass Youth LLW campaign toolkit. There's a good thread discussion too, with free market man Tim Worstall contending that if a special minimum wage for London is justified this undermines the case for a national minimum wage. Fair point. So let's address it by declaring London an independent state. Seems logical enough. Are you reading this, Boris?
