London Hamleys reveal its top toys for Christmas 2019 including LOL Surprise and LEGO

At the eagerly awaited annual showcase for the internationally renowned toy retailer, Hamleys revealed that its top 10 gift list combines educational gifts, collectibles and fan favourites with a tech-y twist.

Front and centre, it’s toys that will encourage children to ‘play, develop and grow’ that the expert’s suggest will be at the top of your Christmas to-buy list. This includes Coding Critters - a storybook adventure that will teach your kids to code without the need for a screen. The game stars their very own pet and teaches problem solving and critical thinking, while sparking their imagination. This is offered alongside the Smart Pixelator where your kids can build their own 2D or 3D designs through Bluetooth connectivity.

For pre-schoolers, the Linkimals, Slow Moves Sloth promises to go down a treat where the interactive toy has lights and music that it dances to. Your little one can press the buttons to find out more about the colours and numbers. It also uses nearfield technology so that it can work in unison with the other animals in the set.

The most lifelike Scruff-a-Luv yet, My Real Rescue is an abandoned pet that requires love to transform it from scruffy to fluffy and is set to become their lifelong friend. It reacts to how you nurture it with lifelike sounds and even has a heartbeat.

The list also includes traditional toys like Pictionary and Lego that have been given a 21st century twist. For Pictionary Air, you simply download the app and draw into the air for your design to be transformed onto the screen. Lego Paranormal Bus 3000 will get the whole family involved where you build the physical bus model and then download the app for it to come alive in virtual reality.

The popularity in collectible favourites like Poopsie Surprise Dolls and L.O.L Surprise Dolls show no sign of waving with new iterations like the L.O.L Chalet Dollhouse - a two story winter home for their dolls.

For the older kids, Nerf is back with the Fortnite RL that takes inspiration from the hugely popular video game and the Oblique Drifter - a four-wheeled machine that has 360 degree free rotation and also plays music.

Get a kickstart on your Christmas shopping with these toys for all ages from the biggest brands in the business.
