Schools across London are marking the end of the Autumn term, with kids heading off for the half-term holidays next week.
Despite being able to enjoy some much-needed rest from the classroom, London’s gloomy weather forecast suggests that winter coats will be in order.
London’s half-term weather forecast
According to the Met Office, it’s a mixed bag when it comes to this weekend’s weather, including cold spells, rain and spots of sunshine.
As we look toward the start of next week, there will be lots of showers and patchy rain, along with a cool breeze.
The Met Office predicts temperatures in the low teens, which is about average for this time of year. However, the forecasts indicate it could feel as cold as seven degrees Celsius on some days.
According to the long-range forecast, the North of the country will face the brunt of the cold, but the capital should still expect some showers during the half-term.
“A changeable start to the period with bands of rain from the Atlantic moving across the country at times. The wettest and windiest conditions are likely to be across the northwest with some decent drier interludes across the south and east,” the forecast reads.
These half-term holidays also come just after Storm Benjamin struck the UK, bringing severe winds and torrential rain, as well as traffic delays across the capital.
Although weather warnings have been lifted, parents may need to plan some indoor activities as next week’s forecast suggests it’ll be pretty cold.
Temperatures are expected to drop in the coming week, and it’s meant to feel cold as well as sporadically wet and windy between intermittent clear spells.
