The London senior hurling team had to borrow hurls for their recent tie with Meath after their equipment didn't arrive on time.
Their hurls, which were checked in in a protective bag, didn't arrive on their Saturday afternoon flight from Heathrow to Dublin.
The equipment was then meant to reach the team before their Christy Ring Cup clash with the Royals, but when it didn't London players had to borrow hurls for the game.
The Exiles went on to lose the match 2-23 to 0-13.
An Aer Lingus spokesperson said: “We are aware that a piece of baggage belonging to the London hurling team was delayed when they travelled from London to Dublin on Saturday 11 May.
"While the team members were reunited with the baggage the following day we recognise the impact of the delay and sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused.”
