There are only so many times you can post a picture of beans on toast to the ‘gram. With restaurants closed and supermarket trips becoming less a voyage of discovery, more a military operation, it’s harder than ever to get excited about dinner time.
What we all need is some lip-smacking, tastebud-tingling, drool-inducing inspiration. From recipes, tips and tutorials to sumptuous snaps of food deliveries, top notch produce and restaurant throwbacks, London’s foodie Instagrammers are still offering ample fodder to encourage you to spice up your lockdown life.
From Monday to Thursday every week, we’ll be bringing you a new favourite account to follow every day of the lockdown (you can see previous picks in the gallery at the top of the page). From brilliant baking to quarantine-ready cocktails, check this page out every day to find your newest food guru.

Who?
The “candid” snaps on this Instagram account come courtesy of Joanna Yee, a Boston-born, London-based professional photographer with a passion for food. Yee’s elegant and atmospheric work has been featured in a plethora of top global lifestyle magazines and cookbooks, while her phone photography (yes, those are from a phone) has earned her a whopping Instagram following.
Why follow?
If you’re looking to add an oasis of calm to your #foodporn-stuffed scrolling, Yee offers just that. This is Instagram for grown-ups: Yee’s wonderfully still photographs depict unwinding brunches, long lunches with a book by her side – while captions relaying the antics of her two-year-old daughter reveal she’s actually just as busy as the rest of us.
Take a scroll back through the years and you’ll discover Yee’s globetrotting adventures, exploring the food cultures of Rwanda, Italy, Sweden and beyond. Most usually, she’s in London, shooting images of her lunches and dinners at some of the city’s top restaurants, with recent trips including Richard Corrigan’s Daffodil Mulligan, Llewelyn’s, Gopal’s Corner, and one to Michelin-starred Hakkasan to try its Chinese New Year menu.
At home – during lockdown or otherwise – there’s more Chinese food on the go. Yee is giving herself a “dumpling education”, so followers can expect pictures of her remarkably well-folded efforts, and read about her well-intentioned plans to freeze them for ease of future meals, before eating them all instead.
While self-isolating, Yee is giving more in-depth guides to Asian cooking, teaming up with the #BringingChinatownHome campaign to show how she makes hand-pulled noodles. Like many of us, she’s also getting into baking – and has admitted to making four batches of Ravneet Gill’s cookie recipe (another of our Instagram favourites) within the last two weeks.
What do we love
Truly beautiful food photography that makes us feel at ease in tricky times.
