London Fashion Week Men's set to boost sales for retailers in St James's

Upmarket clothing retailers in St James’s on Friday predicted a spike in weekend sales as scores of luxury shoppers descend on the capital for London Fashion Week Men’s.

The central London area will tomorrow host a series of runway shows on Jermyn Street, many of which will be open to the general public . It will showcase designs by brands in the area.

Toby Foreman, the boss of Jigsaw which is taking part, told the Evening Standard: “The ‘see it, buy it, wear it’ element of the catwalk will encourage customers to shop within the area and we are looking at sales typically increasing around 15% over the weekend.”

Shirt maker Harvie & Hudson also forecasts sales rises of up to 15%, while retailer New & Lingwood said the catwalk is a way to show fashion buyers, shoppers and tourists that “Britain continues to produce some of the best menswear in the world”.

Among other firms taking part in the St James’s shows are Aspinal of London, Barbour and Turnbull & Asser.

Dylan Jones OBE, chairman of LFWM which runs Saturday to Monday, said: “The growth of the UK menswear market is predicted to outstrip womenswear by 2021, promising news for brands, which further cements the UK’s importance as a global business destination at this crucial time."
