London Fashion Week (LFW) will be taking place this September, the British Fashion Council (BFC) has confirmed.
On Tuesday, the BFC announced plans for the next round of shows in London, confirming that some physical runways will go ahead.
The event will take place as planned from Thursday 17 September to Tuesday 22 September and both mens and womenswear designers will be invited to take part in the gender-neutral showcase.
The BFC stated that both physical and digital shows will be on LFW’s official schedule, which will be unveiled in full to the public later this summer.
It added that any traditional physical shows on the schedule will have to follow government advice on social-distancing guidelines.
The digital LFW platform – which launched earlier this month during what would have been London Fashion Week Men's – will also be available and continue to host exclusive multimedia content that will be available to both a consumer and trade audiences.
In June, Burberry announced its plans to host a physical show this September, which will also be available digitally to the public.
“Now more than ever, we have to reimagine, to change,” the brand said in a statement.
“Set in the British outdoors, the spring/summer 2021 collection will come to life on the 17 September as a live physical presentation that is open for all to experience digitally – opening new spaces to our global community as we reconnect with nature and each other.”
The latest update from the BFC follows similar announcements from the organisers of both Paris and Milan Fashion Week.
After a slew of cancelled events, the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode announced that Paris Fashion Week will take place between 28 September and 6 October .
The event will include physical shows as well as an online platform. In an official statement, the Fédération said it will “comply with its implementation to the recommendations of public authorities”.
The trade body that looks after Milan Fashion Week has also confirmed that the event will go ahead in a physical sense this September.
