London Euston Tube station closed as smoke pours from faulty Northern Line train

London Euston Underground station has been evacuated on Monday morning during rush hour as smoke was seen pouring from a Northern Line tube train.

Transport For London said the Underground was shut after smoke emerged from a faulty train.

London Fire Brigade crews are on the scene. The smoke was first spotted shortly after 09:00, the peak rush hour for commuters.

Northern Line services southbound are affected by the closure. There is no service between Camden Town to Kennington via Bank southbound only "while we respond to a fire alert at Euston", Transport for London said.

But Euston mainline train services, with trains to the Midlands, Manchester and Scotland, remain open.

Ryan Lynch tweeted: "Just evacuated from Euston station. Smoke on my train on the Northern Line the whole station is shut now."

Jordan Pitcairn tweeted: "Just had to evacuate Euston underground due to a fire. Could smell smoke walking down to the platform."

And Michael Fensom tweeted: "Smoke coming from train on Northern Line platform at Euston. Station evacuated, avoid!"
