London's Euston Station has been evacuated after a security alert was triggered by a DAB radio, causing delays on one of the busiest travelling days of the Christmas period.
Rail users were ushered out of the station and British Transport Police (BTP) officers and sniffer dogs were sent in, with the underground station beneath the transport hub also evacuated.
However BTP officials confirmed the suspicious package on the underground that triggered the evacuation was more likely to have been a Christmas present than a security threat.
In a statement posted top Twitter, the force said: "“Please be aware, Euston was evacuated following a report of suspicious package.
“It’s been reviewed and found to be a DAB Radio. No concerns. Station will be reopening shortly.”
Network Rail confirmed the caused delays across one of the key connecting points between the capital and the north just two days out from Christmas - often one of the busiest days for public transport of the year.
A spokesperson said: "The station has now reopened. We will now have delays for the next hour or so whilst we recover services.
"Apologies for the delays caused by a police incident in the Underground station."
