The annual MA Fashion Design and Technology Show 2011 was held at the V&A's Raphael Gallery. For 22 young graduate designers it was a chance to showcase their work. Four collections were shortlisted for the Collection of the Year award.

Joanne Power from County Cork in Ireland. Shortlisted for Collection of the Year - Joanne gained a Harold Tillman Scholarship for her MA degree in Fashion Design and Technology Womenswear. The clean lines and strong silhouettes featured in her collection are deceptively simple. Joanne has completed work experience with Peter Hornstein and Ostwald Helgeson as well as with Marks & Spencer.

Asger Juel Larsen from Denmark. His Menswear collection - 'Uncle Sam' has drawn on elements of the dress and culture of North America in the 1860 in the period of civil war. Asger is already planning to show at Berlin and London Fashion Week.

Asger Juel Larsen from Denmark. Asger has been inspired by the blending of cultures and living in unpredictable times. His collection is dark, grey and dusty, and exemplifies his ideas of gothic America. Asger has already showcased his work in London, New York and Berlin Fashion Weeks and has featured in a number of publications.

Qunying 'Queenie' Huang from Beijing in China, shortlisted for Collection of the Year. Queenie's sophisticated collection is inspired by the notion of personal boundaries and uses jacquard and a mixture of sheer and opaque fabrics to create a collection which fuses traditional pattern cutting with unexpected fabrics.

Tim Rhys-Evans from Aberdover in Wales is a young designer already making waves in the industry with his Womenswear range. Featuring striking silhouettes with a theme of gothic overtones Tim's work expertly mixes statement and wearable pieces.

Tim Rhys-Evans. Tim's MA Fashion Design and Technology Womenswear reflects a new take on female power dressing. Seeping through as a theme are gothic overtones and Elizabethan dress, with his innovative use of the ruff. Tim is looking to start his own label.

Marios Alexander' Antoniou from Cyprus. Mario's MA collection 'Clownland' has been inspired by theatre and performance to create a signature style. Its contemporary feel reflects the life of the modern man and employs complex pattern cutting and hand finished tailoring.

Mio Jin from Jeju Island in South Korea. Shortlisted for Collection of the Year Mio spent her early twenties in art design and this is reflected in her Menswear collection with the use of traditional, silk screen printing to print her own designs onto shirts. Mio's clever construction using panels and colour highlights her exquisite technical pattern cutting skills.

Louise Simmonds from Hackney in London progressed onto MA Fashion and Design after winning the Harold Tillman CBE scholarship. Louise has already freelanced for a wide variety of high profile people. Her collection is heavily influenced by Imperial Russia with rich opulent colours and luxurious fabrics, and is almost entirely cut on the bias on a 45 degree angle - a theme traceable throughout Russian decorative art.

Winner of Collection of the Year award is Matteo Molinari. His Menswear range features a complex technique combining hand-stitched crochet lace (produced by family members) into the panels of his classic black and white Menswear collection. He creates luxurious but also hugely personal and classic garments.
