London City Airport was closed on Monday after a World War Two bomb was found in the River Thames nearby.
The Royal Navy and Metropolitan Police are working together to remove the device after it was found on Sunday.
The airport remained shut throughout Monday, affecting up to 16,000 passengers, while homes in a 214-metre exclusion zone were evacuated.
The bomb was eventually removed from King George V dock during high tide at around midnight,and was being transported down the Thames to a safe area for detonation.
London City Airport is set to reopen on Tuesday and residents have been allowed to return their homes in the original exclusion zone.
