The government has released a list of businesses fined for employing illegal workers - with many in the capital falling foul.
A total of 61 London businesses have been handed fines by the government after being found to be employing workers against the law from October 1 to December 31 2025.
The latest data was released on June 18 and features companies from all corners of the capital.
Seven businesses were fined over £100,000, including Lahore One Restaurant on Commercial Road, Basak Bakery in Haringey, and Antep Tas Firin in Enfield, who were each fined £135,000.
Mr Wong’s Wok and Box in Bethnal Green, M A Builders in Ilford, and Royal Garrison Church of Saint Michael & All Angels were each fined £120,000, while Al Balad Restaurant on Edgware Road was fined £110,000.
All other companies on the list were fined at least £30,000.
The penalties form part of a government crackdown to make sure businesses follow immigration rules and only take on employees who are legally permitted to work in the UK.
Employers who knowingly take on workers without the right to work in the country face serious consequences, including prison sentences of up to five years.
They can also be held liable if they do not complete any necessary right-to-work checks before bringing on new staff members.
The government has also urged the public to report any suspicions of illegal working anonymously by calling the Immigration Enforcement hotline on 0300 123 7000.
