London Bridge station evacuated over 'fire alert' as staff scream 'get out'

London Bridge Station has reopened following an evacuation over a 'fire alert'.

Terrified commuters claim staff were heard screaming 'get out' before they saw 'smoke' .

Two fire engines were also pictured at the scene.

One person said on social media: "London Bridge was just evacuated while I was in it.

"It’s the first time that’s happened to me in the 13 years I’ve lived here. Felt quite scary. Alarms going off, staff shouting GET OUT."

Another added: "Just got kicked out of London Bridge station. Evacuated due to some sort of emergency."

While a third said: "London Bridge emergency, stay away from station. We saw smoke and fire engines there. Stay safe."

The incident is thought to have happened shortly after 10.30pm.

TfL confirmed London Bridge station was closed while they "respond to a fire alert."

They added: "London Underground tickets are being accepted on local bus services."

A London Fire Brigade spokeswoman confirmed to the Mirror Online they were called to a fire alarm sounding, which is understood to have been sparked by a burnt out lift motor.

They did not locate a fire, she added.

The station reopened at around 11.15pm.
