London attack: Fulham Broadway shopping centre and station shut less than half-a-mile away from Parsons Green blast

Fulham Broadway station—one stop away from Parsons Green—was evacuated due to a security alert, according to Transport for London.

The District line Twitter account said: “Fulham Broadway station – Closed while we respond to a security alert.”

Trains were running but not stopping at Fulham Broadway.

The Metropolitan Police said it had attended a security alert at the Vue cinema in the shopping complex attached to the station. Local officers in Hammersmith and Fulham later said it was not suspicious.

A Met spokesman said the station re-opened shortly after 4pm, but Transport for London appeared to contradict this. A TfL spokeswoman said the station was due to re-open at about 5pm.

It came a day after 29 people were injured in a bomb blast at Parsons Green.

Extra police are on the streets amid heightened security and authorities have urged extra vigilance.

The UK’s terror threat level has been raised to “critical”, meaning the Government believes a fresh attack is imminent.

Vue has been contacted for comment.

Elsewhere, investigators have descended on a house in Sunbury-on-Thames, Surrey, in connection with the bombing, following the arrest of an 18-year-old man in Dover.
