David Cameron called the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games a ‘golden summer’ that brought the country together. Even after being reminded of the £9bn price tag a majority of people were remembering the Games fondly at the end of the year. With the spotlight now on Rio in a couple of weeks’ time, we’d like you to look back and share your favourite moments of the London Olympics four years on.

What do you think is the lasting legacy of the London Olympic and Paralympic Games? Do you remember the Games with fondness, or are the comparisons with England’s World Cup-winning year of 1966 greatly exaggerated? Maybe you still live in the vicinity of the Olympic Park and have experienced the lasting improvements or disadvantages of the Games first hand?

Whether you were a spectator, volunteer or competitor at the London 2012 Games, share your photos and memories of that summer and what impact you consider London 2012 had on your life via GuardianWitness by clicking the blue “contribute” button or via the form below. We will feature the most interesting contributions in our coverage.
