Lomas Brown, Jason Hanson among 122 nominees for 2020 Hall of Fame class

The Pro Football Hall of Fame nomination committee has released its initial list of 122 modern era (post-1970) candidates for enshrinement with the Class of 2020.

Three players who are best known for their Detroit Lions tenures are among the list:

OT Lomas Brown

PK Jason Hanson

LB Chris Spielman

They have made the initial cut. The next step comes after the regular season ends, according to the Pro Football Hall of Fame press release,

The Modern-Era players list will be reduced to 25 Semifinalists in November and to 15 Finalists in early January 2020. The finalists will then be presented to the full 48-member Pro Football Hall of Fame Selection Committee during its annual meeting on “Selection Saturday,” the day before Super Bowl LIV.

The Hall is expanding the class to 20 for 2020 in honor of the 100th year of the NFL. That gives the former Lions a better chance, though it’s unlikely any make it given the quantity of other quality nominees. And Herman Moore continues to be a flagrant omission.
