Lollapalooza 2016 schedule released

May 09--LCD Soundsystem or Ellie Goulding? Future or M83? St. Lucia vs. Grimes, and Vic Mensa up against Disclosure.

Let the crying and hand-wringing begin. The Lollapalooza daily grid is out Monday and it shows exactly when and where each of 170 bands and artists will be performing July 28-31 in Grant Park. With eight stages going more or less simultaneously over four days at the sold-out 25th anniversary festival, there are bound to be some conflicts. Here are a few that pop up at first glance:

July 28: Headliners J. Cole and Lana Del Rey go head-to-head, which sounds like a broad enough stylistic difference not to cause too many headaches. But rock fans will need to decide between the Arcs, a Black Keys side project, and rising U.K. band the 1975. Also not appreciating the overlap between Danny Brown and Yeasayer.

July 29: Radiohead vs. Major Lazer on the main stages -- no angst here, as this should be a clear-cut choice for most fans. But M83 competing with Wolf Alice and Future makes me want to split myself in three.

July 30: Tough to choose between Grimes and St. Lucia. And Lolla veterans the Red Hot Chili Peppers seem like a slam-dunk closer for a big anniversary show, but they're up against Disclosure and Vic Mensa.

July 31: LCD Soundsystem's comeback vs. the rapidly rising Ellie Goulding on the main stage. My big question: Can I catch Vince Staples on the north side of the park and still make the opening of LCD's set? Not looking forward to choosing between Haim vs. Flume and Halsey vs. Local Natives either.
