Lokomotiv Moscow statement confirms key man not joining Ralf Rangnick at Manchester United

Lokomotiv Moscow have announced that Lars Kornetka will not join Ralf Rangnick's coaching staff at Manchester United.

United confirmed Rangick's interim appointment - an initial six months on the touchline to be followed by two years spent in a consultancy role - on Monday but it's anticipated that Reds' current coaching staff will remain after the German's arrival.

Club sources have indicated Rangnick could be joined by some of his own staff members but there will be no imminent departures.

But Konertka, who has been described by Rangnick as 'the best video analyst we have in Germany', won't be joining United.

Lokomotiv Moscow announced on Monday night that the coach will take succeed Rangnick in his previous position at the club.

"The well-known German specialist Lars Kornetka will take over the position of the Head of Sports and Development of FC Lokomotiv. Ralph Rangnick, who held this position earlier, has joined Manchester United as a head coach," the official statement read.

"Lars Kornetka is long-term partner, follower of ideas and adherent of Ralph Rangnick's football philosophy. Since 2007, the specialist has actively collaborated with him at Hoffenheim, Schalke 04 and Red Bull Leipzig.

"Lars specialises in statistical football analysis, assessment of players' skills, including advanced video analytics, as well as scouting, focused primarily on finding promising young football players, and an objective assessment of their future capabilities."

It's hoped that Rangnick will be able to take charge for United's game versus Arsenal on Thursday.
