Lokesh Kanagaraj fuels speculation on Aamir Khan's cameo in Rajinikanth's upcoming film 'Coolie'

Director Lokesh Kanagaraj may have just spilled the tea on the much-talked-about Rajinikanth and Aamir Khan team-up for his upcoming film 'Coolie'.

Amidst much chatter surrounding his next, the director finally addressed the widespread speculation about Khan's possible cameo. In an interview, Lokesh was asked if Aamir would join Telugu star Nagarjuna, Kannada icon Upendra, and Malayalam actor Soubin Shahir in the starry lineup for 'Coolie'.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter India, Kanagaraj coyly said, “Whatever characters are there, they have to be revealed by the production house. So, I have nothing to say about that." While his statement didn't confirm the Bollywood star's role in the movie, it did not deny it either.

When probed further, he simply remarked, "Anyone from India or abroad" could be stepping into the role.

The filmmaker also spoke about his admiration for Khan, noting that they have discussed potential projects in the past, including a standalone superhero film. Recalling his friendship with the actor, Kanagaraj shared that the two met during the release of 'Laal Singh Chaddha' and have since maintained contact. "If everything goes well, why not work together?" he added, hinting that a possible collaboration may be on the cards after all.

If Aamir does indeed make a cameo in 'Coolie', it would mark a reunion with Rajinikanth after they previously co-starred in 'Aatank Hi Aatank' back in 1995. 'Coolie', anticipated as another mass-action hit, is set to release in 2025.
