VIJAYAWADA: The high court on Tuesday said the location of offices of the Lokayukta and state human rights commission (SHRC) are subject to the adjudication of the PIL filed by one Maddipati Sailaja from Guntur.
The bench of Chief Justice Arup Kumar Goswami and Justice Ninala Jayasurya considered the grounds raised in the PIL, contending the location fixed by the state government for the offices of Lokayukta and SHRC in Kurnool.
Earlier, in another petition which sought directions to set up the office of SHRC within Andhra Pradesh, the high court had said that it is the prerogative of the state government to decide the location.
However, senior counsel DSNV Prasad Babu raised additional grounds, and argued that shifting of the offices of Lokayukta and SHRC from Amaravati to Kurnool is in violation of the status quo order given by the high court on three capitals.
