Loganair today announced that it is to launch the first scheduled commercial and business services from Carlisle in more than 25 years.
Flights connecting Carlisle Lake District Airport with London Southend Airport, Belfast City Airport and Dublin Airport will start on July thanks to the partnership with the carrier known as Scotland’s Airline.
Travellers can book from from today, with fares to Belfast starting from £39.99 and Dublin and London Southend from £44.99.
Kate Willard, director of partnership development for airport owner Stobart Group, said: "The last commercial flights at Carlisle Lake District Airport were in 1993 and we are chuffed that we are bringing them back to the region for the first time in more than 25 years.”
Last month, Loganair revealed it will be flying the first direct service from the Hebrides to the south east, between Stornoway and London Southend.
Jonathan Hinkles, managing director of Loganair , said: “We’re extremely pleased to announce that tickets are now on sale linking Carlisle Lake District airport with Dublin, Belfast and London Southend.
“These air services will significantly benefit the overall Carlisle and Borderlands region, attracting thousands of tourists and enhancing connectivity for those wishing to do business at both ends of the routes.”
