Loganair flight in emergency Edinburgh landing as pilot deals with 'mid-air issue'

A Lognair flight has been forced to perform an emergency landing in Edinburgh due to a mid-air "technical issue" onboard.

The airline confirmed that after a technical issue arose on flight LM86 from Belfast to Aberdeen, the aircraft was forced to land in the capital as a precaution

Reports on social media suggested that there were fire crews on hand at Edinburgh Airport in anticipation for the flight landing, although Loganair confirmed it landed without incident.

The flight took off from Belfast around 1.39pm, over an hour later than planned and was due to touch down in Aberdeen at 1:30pm. Reports suggest the flight eventually landed in Edinburgh shortly before 2.30pm.

A spokesperson for Loganair said: “A Loganair flight operating between Belfast and Aberdeen made a precautionary landing in Edinburgh today after a technical issue arose.

“The aircraft landed without incident at Edinburgh Airport and alternative travel is being arranged for all passengers. The safety of passengers and crew is of utmost importance to us at Loganair and we thank all involved for their patience.”
