Logan Wilson takes ‘encouraging big step’ for Bengals before Week 17 vs. Chiefs

Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson is a good example of how quickly things can change in the NFL.

Not too long ago, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor considered Wilson a long shot to play in the team’s Week 17 homestand against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Now Wilson is practicing on Wednesday and in a great spot.

According to Marisa Contipelli of the team’s official website, Taylor says Wilson suiting up for practice is “an encouraging big step.”

That’s not a confirmation the breakout sophomore linebacker will be good to go by any means. But if he strings together two more days of work before the weekend, he might be able to give it a go.

It’s critical for Wilson to get back, too. When he went down with the shoulder injury, the communications headset passed to Germaine Pratt. Now Pratt’s likely out on Sunday after going to the reserve/COVID-19 list.

If Pratt and Wilson can’t go, that green dot might have to go to a safety.

Either way, the Bengals need their best players on the field when Patrick Mahomes and Co. come to town.
