Logan Paul blames KSI boxing defeat on a cold: 'The first thing I did this morning was sneeze three times'

Logan Paul says a cold cost him the win in his boxing showdown with YouTube rival KSI.

KSI sealed a split decision win over his rival in Los Angeles on Saturday – with a points deduction for Logan for hitting his opponent on the back of his head while he was down on the mat pivotal in the judges’ scores.

But the American believes illness was also a major contributing factor in the defeat, taking away the ‘killer instinct’ he believes would have secured the win for him.

He told a press conference: “You can hear it in my voice, I'm sick, I woke up sick, I’ve been sick for the past three days. The first thing I did this morning was sneeze three times and I’ve been sneezing throughout the day.

"I called [trainer] Shannon [Briggs] and asked should I take ibuprofen before the fight tonight and he said no because it will mess up my heart rate.

“I tried to push through it, I had hoped my adrenaline would take care of the sickness. If I’m being honest, it took away that killer instinct that I’ve had the whole two months of sparring. That was the worst performance I’ve had in the last two months.”

“Something changed today. I had a talk with my brother backstage and we got a little emotional, it’s like there’s something in me that has a problem taking it from 99 to 100 and crossing that finishing line in boxing and wanting to hurt the man in the ring.”
