Logan Mwangi's dad fights back tears as he reveals text ex sent before murdering son

Grieving Logan Mwangi's dad bravely fought back tears to reveal the text his ex sent him before murdering his son.

The five-year-old, who suffered 56 external injuries to his head, face, torso arms and legs from "blunt force trauma", was found with "severe injuries."

Logan's injuries were compared to a "high velocity" car crash as he was left abandoned like "fly-tipped rubbish" in a river as he was pulled from Ogmore River close to his home in South Wales.

Logan's mum Angharad Williamson, 30, stepdad John Cole, 40, and the 14-year-old son of John's ex-partner were all locked up for the toddler's evil murder last month.

Dad Ben Mwangi said he was completely unaware of the horrendous abuse his son was going through after being blocked from seeing his own son by mum Angharad.

During an emotional appearance on Good Morning Britain, Ben admitted he had no idea what was going on as he had been blocked from seeing his son.

He said: "I had no knowledge or no idea about what was going on. When their relationship started was the last time I had contact with Logan.

"I was prevented from seeing him, not by the courts, by her and John."

The devastated dad said when Logan's mum Angharad started dating John "everything fell apart" as she sent Ben a text message preventing him from seeing his son as he lost all contact with Logan.

He told Good Morning Britain: "She sent me a nasty message saying 'Logan's got a family now, Logan doesn't need me, I'm never going to see my son again'.

"I never thought it would be like that."

Angharad stopped Ben from seeing his son when she started dating John in April 2019, who became obsessed with the idea she was cheating on him with Ben.

Logan's devastating injuries were laid out bare in the trial as jurors were told how the youngster had suffered horrible abuse before his death.

He was referred to social services just months before he tragically died - but his dad Ben was not told he had been referred to social services.

Craig Mulligan was detained for a minimum of 15 years after being found guilty of the murder of five-year-old Logan Mwangi, along with Logan's mother and stepfather (PA)

Ben is now campaigning to try and protect children with "Logan's Law" which is to try and protect kids and let estranged parents know when their son or daughter is referred to social services.

He said: "Logan's Law is going to be about letting estranged parents like myself know when my child is known to child services.

"If I'd have known I would have worked with the social services and said I'm taking him away from this hostile environment."
