Loftus-Cheek to stay, Zouma to leave - Chelsea keep or sell ahead of transfer deadline day

After a summer of transfer news and rumours we're approaching the time where the window is about to be slammed shut.

Chelsea have been working hard with incomings and outgoings and have added Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Bettinelli to their first team ranks. Trevoh Chalobah may have slowed down the rush to sign Jules Kounde, but may not have stopped the deal in its tracks.

Where the Blues may be more active in remaining days is in chopping down the vast numbers of Thomas Tuchel's squad. The ranks of the loan army still need filling up and Kurt Zouma appears to heading towards a West Ham transfer.

football.london understands that the two clubs reaching an agreement over the fee but Zouma remains in negotiations.

Bright sparks like Tino Anjorin could still leave to gain experience like teammates Conor Gallagher and Billy Gilmour. football.london understands the Blues are in talks with Lokomotiv Moscow over a potential deal.

As many as 42 players reported for a pre-season training session ahead of a friendly against Spurs earlier this month, so there may be some work still do with the likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Ross Barkley, Danny Drinkwater and Tiemoue Bakayoko still at the club.

Nevertheless, Tuchel has expressed his happiness with the squad at his disposal.

He said: “‘I’m absolutely happy with our squad and the alternatives we have.

“‘It’s not too big a squad so when we were missing Christian Pulisic against Arsenal, it meant that everybody else was straight in, with 18 outfielders plus the goalkeepers.

“It means we do not have the biggest squad but we have a very competitive squad in all positions and that is necessary because we play a lot of competitions this season.

“We have the Club World Cup coming up in December and we have a pretty unique situation where we played very long in the Euros and Copa America so if we want to compete we need this kind of level.”
