Loftus-Cheek surfaces, Willian and Morris' exchange, Jorginho chant - Chelsea moments missed

Loftus-Cheek makes an appearance

On Friday, during his pre-Brighton and Hove Albion press conference Frank Lampard issued a positive injury update on Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

"Ruben we can't give a date but he is outside jogging slowly," Lampard confirmed.

"That is a positive move for this week, good to see him outside and we will see how that goes over the next weeks."

Roughly 24 hours later, the midfielder surfaced at Stamford Bridge as he walked through the press room and didn't seem to be bothered by the Achilles injury sustained in May.

All in all, it's been a good week in terms of updates on Loftus-Cheek.

Having Loftus-Cheek available for the second half of the season will certainly boost Lampard's midfield options as he looks to ensure the Blues don't drop out of the top four.

Morris and Willian exchange

At one point in the first-half against Brighton, Willian and Chelsea assistant head coach Jody Morris were deep in conversation.

What was said remains to be seen, but there was a lot of gesturing and finger-pointing.

After a brief chat, the Brazilian gave Morris the thumbs up which suggested he'd taken all the instructions on board.

It would appear that Morris told the attacker to switch up his game as moments later Willian had swapped wings with Pedro.

Furthermore, Willian's goal which made the game safe came when he was operating from the right-hand side after the Spaniard had been replaced by Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Jorginho chant

The Italian has very much come full circle in his Chelsea career. At one stage last season he was booed by his own fans and not many could have blamed him for following Maurizio Sarri to Juventus in the summer.

But he stayed and is slowly becoming Chelsea's most important player.

Lampard called him a "leader" during his post-match press conference and this season he is winning large sections of the Chelsea supporters over with his impressive performances.

So much so that some fans stayed behind after the full-time whistle to sing his name.

Prior to Saturday's game, Chelsea had only won once at Stamford Bridge this season and that was against Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup.

There has been defeats against Valencia and Liverpool as well as draws with Leicester City and Sheffield United despite leading in both.

But supporters aren't turning on Frank Lampard. In fact, before kick-off against Brighton there was the 'Frank Lampard's Blue and White army' which made an apperance.

Then seconds after the game kicked off chants of "Super Frankie Lampard" rang out around Stamford Bridge.

Hudson-Odoi's pass

Callum Hudson-Odoi is back. Fresh off signing his new five-year contract he started against Grimsby Town on Wednesday night, scored a goal and was named on the bench against Brighton.

Just after hour mark he took the place of Pedro and was afforded a standing ovation.

However, just moments later Hudson-Odoi had a moment he would want to forget in a hurry.

After receiving the ball from Tammy Abraham, the winger spotted Willian in acres of space to his right and a simple pass was required. But Hudson-Odoi over-hit the pass and from the reaction on his face it was evident that he knew he should have done better.

He did bounce back though, as he will be credited with the assist for Willian's goal which took a deflection.
