Lodge Lane takeout serving curries so good they are shipped all over the UK

A Merseyside takeaway has been serving curries so tasty that they can now be ordered anywhere in the UK.

Kashmiri Street Food and Curry Kitchen, found on Lodge Lane, have been offering locals 'unique twists to the usual Indian restaurants in Liverpool' - and it seems to have paid off.

As now, it's not only the locals who can enjoy the authentic traditional homecooked dishes but rather those who are further afield.

Owner, Fozia Choudhry, told 2Chill : "During the second lockdown last year, I realised I had access to a kitchen but no one could come in and I knew I didn’t want to open a restaurant and do late night shifts, I love my bed too much.

"As half of the country was online I decided the only way I could sell my curries would be online and came across frozen foods.

"I spent most of last summer weighing and measuring ingredients, then worked with my husband who designed both of our web pages, and it did take around five months before we nailed it and opened our online frozen food range."

Kashmiri Street Food and Curry Kitchen offers visitors traditional curries, roti and pilau while also adding street elements like khati rolls, treat boxes and even their popular pakora burger.

Fozia's drive for cooking comes from a love of the smells of certain food and says she can't remember a time where she wasn't cooking.

Recalling her relationship with food, the 50-year-old said: "Just the smell you know when that is being made, I just love it, evokes lovely childhood memories.

"Although we had little financially when kids, we were very spoilt when it came to food.

Since opening a few months ago, they have made 5,600 samosas (Fozia Choudhry)

"My mother enjoyed cooking, one of the simple pleasures was sitting down the night before Eid festivals with my siblings to make samosas, never shop bought, we always made it from scratch.

"This is something instilled in me and something I am very passionate about and absolutely love. Even baking, we had the Reader's Digest in the early 80s and followed those recipes."

Looking towards the future, Fozia explained that now they have settled in and established their street food takeout, she hopes to focus back on her frozen food range.

She explained: "We just need to tweak the labels a tiny bit and we have been given permission to take them to our local vendors to sell.

"So hopefully by the New Year our curries will be in some local shops near you. We just need to get past our spicy take on the Christmas dinner that we will be offering over the Christmas period."
