Police have arrested two men who allegedly broke into an Adelaide childcare centre, stole its minibus and then crashed it into the carport at a group of units.

They say the Toyota HiAce was stolen from the Lockleys Early Learning Centre overnight, and was found wedged into the carport in Welland after 8:00am.

Police searched the area near Welland Avenue and found a 31-year-old Woodville Park man and a 35-year-old West Croydon man on Port Road a short time later.

The minibus allegedly contained items stolen from the childcare centre, along with tools.

The men have been charged with illegal use and unlawful possession.
