Lockerbie racer Gordie Mutch makes GT Cup switch

Gordie Mutch will race in the GT Cup this year.

The Lockerbie Racer won the Praga Cup in 2022 along with YoTuber Jimmy Broadbent,

Now, he will join forces with Tim Docker in a Paddock Motorsport McLaren 570S in the seven-round GT Cup.

Gordie, who attended the series’ media day at Donington Park yesterday, said: “It’s come about really quick and it’s very exciting.

“Tim decided he’d like to be racing again this year. He had an accident last year which prevented him from finishing the year.

“He went through the motions of testing to see how he felt and whether he was up to speed. After they made that evaluation they came to me.”

Last year Gordie also won the GT class at the Classic Spa 6 Hours with Alasdair McCaig and Andrew Smith.

And he also enjoyed success in the virtual world, which he hopes will continue in 2023 after agreeing to join Apex Racing.

He added: “They race at the highest level in esports and I’ve joined them to be one of their pro drivers.

“For those guys, its quite useful to have a driver that’s professional in real life to relay a lot of information – different approaches can be beneficial to them.

“It seemed like a good partnership and so far its proved to be very successful.

Gordie would like to thank his sponsors John Clark Motor Group, Sparco and Grange Quarry.
