Locked up in Greater Manchester: The criminals sent down over the last seven days

The first week of June has been anything but quiet at our region's courts  in the last week as more justice was served.

People have been locked up for all manner of criminal offences.

There was the drunken stag party who subjected holidaymakers to 'eight hours of hell' and the 'predatory' paedophile who went on the run after grooming an underage girl for sex and making sick videos of her.

There were also the two thugs jailed following a drive-by shooting in which a woman and her boyfriend were shot at in broad daylight.

Here is a run-down of the criminals sent down in the last seven days:

A man has been jailed for life for the murder of a defenceless 22-month-old girl in Wythenshawe.

Michael Wild, 30, forcibly hit little Ella-Rose Clover in the abdomen while left alone with her.

Wild was found guilty of her murder following an eight-week trial at Liverpool Crown Court.

He was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 20 years on Monday.

Ella-Rose’s heartbroken mother Pagan struggled to put into words the impact her daughter’s murder has had on her life.

Wild, of Morland Road, Gleadless, Sheffield, was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum of 20 years in jail.

A drunk stag party put holidaymakers through 'eight hours of hell'

A drunken stag party from Oldham who subjected holidaymakers to 'eight hours of hell' have been jailed.

Stag Michael Ward, 33, was travelling to Las Vegas from Manchester with his friends Scott Capper, 32, Craig Hopwood, 35, and Daniel Howarth, 35, on a Thomas Cook flight with more than 300 other passengers.

They were all drunk when they boarded, and drank their own duty free alcohol including vodka and rum on the plane despite being told not to, Manchester Crown Court heard.

One man even claimed to have a bomb in their bag.

Cabin crew refused to serve them but they continued to drink from duty free, with five litres of alcohol being confiscated.

Jailing Ward, Capper and Hopwood for two years and Howarth for 19 months, Judge Hilary Manley said the men showed 'total contempt' towards cabin crew and other passengers.

Later the four defendants, who all had previous convictions, pleaded guilty to offences.

Ward, of Incline Road, Oldham, Capper, of Hopkin Road, Oldham and Hopwood, of Oak Road, Oldham, all admitted counts of affray and being drunk on an aircraft.

Howarth, of Inglewood Close, Oldham, pleaded guilty to a section 4 public order offence and being drunk on an aircraft.

Cocaine-fuelled thug stamped on his girlfriend

A jealous brute who beat up and threatened to shoot his girlfriend over false claims she had been cheating on him has been jailed for 11 and a half years.

Lloyd Hill, 24, who had been snorting cocaine, grabbed a loaded rifle complete with silencer from his loft before telling his partner he would gun down both her and her father Michael.

During the assault the victim was also repeatedly punched and stood on until the imprint of the sole of Hill's training shoe was left on the side of her head.

She was then locked in the house in Denton, but neighbours alerted police after she shouted for help from a window.

She now suffers with post traumatic stress disorder as a result of the attack last Christmas.

At Minshull Street Crown Court, Hill admitted attempting to cause grievous bodily harm and possessing a firearm with intent.

Teenage drug dealer was caught with 25 bullets hidden in a sock

A teenager was caught by police with 25 bullets stuffed in his sock.

Drug dealer Kieran Shotton, 19, has been jailed for four years and four months following a sentencing hearing at Manchester Crown Court.

Passing sentence, Judge Martin Rudland accepted Shotton was acting as a 'courier', but told him the 'sole purpose' for ammunition is to be paired with a weapon for 'maiming and killing'.

"This is an extremely dangerous situation you have put yourself into young man," the judge said.

Shotton, of no fixed address, previously pleaded guilty to possession of ammunition, possession of cocaine with intent to supply, possession of cannabis with intent to supply and possession of criminal property.

A football reject knocked out his ex-girlfriend as he drove dangerously with her and their baby in his car.

Vincent Burke, once on the books at Manchester City, Blackburn Rovers and Oldham Athletic, was seen by a witness 'walloping' victim Emily Clarke in the head during an incident in Llangefni, North Wales, last September.

Burke, of Rokeby Street, Everton, Liverpool, was jailed for 10 months at Caernarfon Crown Court after admitting dangerous driving and assault causing actual bodily harm on Tuesday.

The pair were driving from Liverpool to Anglesey, the Daily Post Wales reports , but Burke, 25, lost his temper when Miss Clarke wanted to return home.

He has been jailed for 10 months.

In addition to the jail term, Burke was banned from driving for 17 months and given a three-year restraining order prohibiting contact with Miss Clarke.

Bullets flew on the streets of Tameside as thugs carried out drive-by

Jake Ryan, left, and Sean Beddow (GMP)

Two men have been jailed following a drive-by shooting in which a woman and her boyfriend were shot at in broad daylight.

Sean Beddow, 22, fired a loaded handgun from the window of a car being driven by 22-year-old Jake Ryan during a chase in Hyde.

Members of the public watched in terror as 'four to five' bullets were fired at the woman's Ford Fiesta as she desperately tried to flee.

The woman and her partner escaped unscathed, despite at least one bullet connecting with the rear windscreen of the car, Manchester Crown Court heard.

Beddow, of Stevenson Square, Openshaw; and Ryan of Combermere Street, Dukinfield, have been jailed for a total of 24 years following the attacks on October 18, 2018.

Both pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life; and section 18 wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Ryan's cousin, Jurhys Skeene, 18, was found to be in possession of a shotgun, live rounds and the handgun used in the shooting.

Ryan was sentenced to 13 years for his role, as well as for an offence of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

Beddow was jailed for 11 years and four months for his part in the attacks.

Skeene, of Richmond Hill in Hyde, was jailed for eight years after pleading guilty to possession of a prohibited weapon; and conspiracy to rob following a number of knife-point robberies.

All three men will serve half their sentence before being released on license.

Ex-teacher and Ofsted inspector was 'functioning addict' for 15 years

"Yours is a salutary tale in the evils of drugs, and particularly heroin and crack cocaine," a judge told Elenor Proctor. (GMP)

The 'spectacular' fall from grace of a former teacher and Ofsted inspector was completed as she was jailed for her part in 'despicable' burglaries targeting the elderly.

Elenor Proctor, 36, and her boyfriend, self confessed 'smackhead' Patrick Nicholson, 34, were both locked up after the pair admitted tricking their way into elderly people's homes in Salford before stealing from them.

Nicholson was jailed for eight years and Proctor, of Station Lane, Wakefield, for four.

Both pleaded guilty to four counts of burglary and two counts of fraud.

Nicholson, of Carleton View, Wakefield, also asked for eight offences of burglary committed in West Yorkshire to be taken into account by the sentencing judge.

Gareth John Skipsey Hughes (GMP)

'Predatory' paedophile went on the run after grooming girl

A 'predatory' paedophile who went on the run after grooming an underage girl for sex and making sick videos of her has been jailed.

Gareth John Skipsey Hughes used numerous phone numbers; rented flats using fake names; and went through numerous jobs as he fled from cops.

He was 36 when he met the child on a social media website in 2012. He posed as a 26-year-old and started a sexual relationship with his victim.

Hughes, now 43, picked her up in his car and took her to his home. He went on to regularly met up with the girl.

He would often have the girl walk straight from school to his home, where they would engage in sexual activity while he filmed it on his phone.

The girl visited Hughes’ workplace in Reddish, Stockport, where he showed her a file on his computer containing explicit videos and photos he had taken of her.

The relationship continued until the girl was over 18 and moved away from the area.

Hughes, of Victoria Mill, Reddish, Stockport, was arrested in November 2016 after the victim reported him to police.

Hughes was sentenced to six years and eight months after pleading guilty to five counts of sexual activity with a child; two counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity; eight counts of making an indecent image of a child; two counts of distributing an indecent photo of a child; and one count of possessing an extreme pornographic image.
