After days of uncertainty, lockdown orders are beginning to lift across Australia — but not for everyone.

Struggling to keep tabs on it all? You're not alone.

Here's your quick guide to get you up to speed.

Over 30 new cases recorded in NSW

NSW recorded 31 new locally acquired infections in the 24 hours to 8:00pm Thursday, 12 of whom had been active in the community while infectious.

More than 73,000 people came forward for testing during the reporting period, surpassing the previous record set in December during the Avalon cluster.

Ms Berejiklian said Friday's case numbers reflected a "lag" from the days before Greater Sydney went into lockdown, adding that "early next week we should see the impact of the lockdown really turning".

However, authorities would not be drawn on whether Greater Sydney, the Central Coast, Blue Mountains, Wollongong and Shellharbour should come out of lockdown next weekend.

Lockdown extended for Brisbane and Moreton Bay

Lockdown will end at 6:00pm Friday for Noosa, the Sunshine Coast, Ipswich, Logan, Redlands, Gold Coast, Lockyer Valley, Scenic Rim, Somerset, Townsville and Palm Island.

But it will continue until 6:00pm Saturday for the Brisbane City Council and the Moreton Bay regions, with any new case numbers to be revised overnight.

It comes as another four cases of community transmission were recorded in the Sunshine State on Friday.

They include a mother and daughter from Carindale, in Brisbane's south-east, and a woman who worked at the Brisbane International Airport.

Authorities believe the latter caught the virus from her partner, who is a luggage handler, but they are still trying to determine where the mother and her daughter may have picked up the infection.

The fourth case, announced late on Friday afternoon, involved a man in his 50s who had been out in the Sunshine Coast community and became symptomatic on Wednesday.

Queensland Health was investigating any link to existing cases and identifying the strain.

Lockdown lifted in Perth, Peel regions

Perth and the Peel regions will come out of lockdown as planned at 12:01am Saturday.

However, some interim restrictions will remain in Perth and Peel for the next three days, including the mandatory wearing of face masks.

It comes as the state recorded one new local case of COVID-19 overnight.

The 21-year-old woman is the partner of a man who tested positive earlier this week and is not believed to have been in the community while infectious.

Lockdowns lifted in Greater Darwin and Alice Springs

Lockdowns in Greater Darwin and Alice Springs will be lifted at 1:00pm on Friday, after no new cases were recorded.

However, restrictions in both regions would be in place for the next seven days including the following:

  • Masks must be worn in public and at work where physical distancing from others is not possible
  • Indoor exercise venues and markets will remain closed
  • In hospitality venues patrons will need to be seated for anything that is not takeaway
  • Gatherings at homes will be limited to 10 visitors, not including household members

"I know it's been a bit of a wild ride but we are really happy with what's come through overnight," NT Chief Minister Michael Gunner said.

Baby tests positive to COVID-19 Delta strain in Adelaide

South Australia recorded one new locally acquired case on Friday — the baby of a miner who tested positive on Tuesday.

All six members of the miner's family have now tested positive to the Delta strain of COVID-19.

The worker, aged in his 30s, worked at the Granites mine in the Tanami Desert in the Northern Territory.

Chief Public Health Officer Nicola Spurrier said the baby was under 12 months of age but remained "clinically well".

South Australia's current coronavirus restrictions, including a limit on private gatherings of 10 people in Greater Adelaide, will be maintained at the current level for the foreseeable future.

Tasmania border restrictions remain in place

Tasmania is unlikely to drop border restrictions with large parts of Queensland until next week.

Premier Peter Gutwein said the island state had "always taken a cautious approach" to easing border restrictions, and that while an official decision would be made this afternoon, it was unlikely Tasmania would ease its restrictions for Queensland until at least Monday.

Authorities also announced that from next Wednesday, July 7, people aged 16 and over will be required to check into businesses such as cafes, even if they are only visiting for takeaways.

No new cases in Victoria, ACT

No new locally-acquired COVID-19 cases were recorded in Victoria for a second day in a row.

Close to 25,000 test results were processed on Thursday, and more than 19,000 vaccine doses were delivered at state-run sites.

The ACT also continued its streak of doughnut days, recording no new cases from more than 1,000 test results.

National Cabinet agrees to halve international arrivals

By July 14, international arrivals will be capped at 3,035 people a week, down from 6,370 and will be in place until at least the start of next year.

Scott Morrison announces that international travel caps have been halved after National Cabinet's meeting.

Commercial flight numbers will be cut, but Prime Minister Scott Morrison said the Commonwealth would increase the number of repatriation flights.

Mr Morrison also announced the federal government would conduct a trial of a shorter seven-day quarantine period with a small number of vaccinated travellers, instead of 14 days.
