Gardai made a stark discovery after chasing down a driver who sped past one of their checkpoints this weekend.
The Policing Unit in Naas were carrying out speed checks on the M4 when the spotted a van over the speed limit zooming past Gardai.
Officers took chase and stopped the van which hit dangerous speeds of 147km/h in a 120kph zone.
The vehicle was found to be uninsured and was seized with proceedings to follow for the speeding driver.
A Garda spokesman said: "Naas Roads Policing Unit were conducting speed checks on the M4 when they detected this van travelling at 147kph in a 120kph zone.
"The van was stopped and was also found to be uninsured. The van was seized. Proceedings to follow."
