Lockdown rules are being eased today across Great Britain as we ease back into normal life.

Hair salons, pubs, and restaurants have been open since July 4, after all shops were allowed to open last month.

But from today, a number of other services are allowed to resume for the first time since lockdown began on March 23.

Here, we take a closer look at which businesses are reopening today and what the rules are for using them.

What's reopening today?

In England, beauty salons, nail bars, and tattoo parlours are all allowed to open from today. Spas, massage studios and physical therapy businesses are also allowed to open.

However, face waxing, eyelash treatments, make-up and application are all still not allowed to go ahead because of the risk of transmitting coronavirus. Facial treatment such as dermarolling, dermaplaning, microblading and electrolysis are also not permitted.

But manicures, pedicures, and body waxes have all been allowed from today.

What are the government rules and guidelines?

All staff will be required to wear a visor that covers their face, or use a screen to protect them and the customer, when it is not possible to socially distance. They are also told to frequently wash their hands, cleaning surfaces and equipment.

Equipment and customer chairs should be spaced out when possible, and businesses are told to reduce their capacity in order to maintain two-metre distances. There should also be a limited and fixed number of staff working together at all times.

Clients need to book appointments in advance to minimise number of customers.

Skin on skin contact should be avoided at all times, and staff are told to where gloves when possible.

Customers are not allowed to bring food or drinks into the salons.
