A spa day or weekend offers the perfect opportunity to relax and rejuvenate.
And they've become a popular way of marking special occasions with family and friends.
But spas have been forced to close for the majority of the past year as part of lockdown rules against coronavirus.
The government has deemed the beauty and wellbeing establishments too high-risk, however hope is in sight for a pamper day within the next few months.
As part of the government's lockdown roadmap to normality, spas have been given the go-ahead to reopen in phases.
Here, we take a look at what the rules state:
When can spas open?
As part of Step 2 of the roadmap, no earlier than April 12, a number of indoor businesses can reopen.
This includes non-essential retail and personal care premises, including hairdressers, salons and close contact services.
Indoor leisure facilities such as gyms and indoor swimming pools can also reopen, and this includes spas.
The guidance states that these premises should only be visited alone or as household groups.
However, steam rooms and saunas will continue to be closed under the rules.
Overnight spa stays are also prohibited, as they are not classified as self-contained accommodation, which is allowed from this date.
In Step 3, no earlier than May 17, spas will be able to reopen their steam rooms and saunas.
All accommodation can reopen by this point too, meaning spas that offer hotel facilities can reopen fully.
Guests will be permitted to meet in a group of up to six people or one other household.
Social distancing rules will still be in force and spas will follow Covid-secure guidelines, as all coronavirus restrictions are not set to be lifted until no earlier than June 21 in England.
