Lockdown roadmap survey: Have your say on return of shops, pubs, gyms and Rule of Six

Mirror readers have been called on to tell us how they feel about the Government's road map out of lockdown.

Yesterday Boris Johnson offered a glimmer of hope at the end of a long, dark winter spent mostly in side when he outlined the lockdown exit plan.

Nightclubs could be permitted to reopen on June 21 under Mr Johnson's plan, having been shut since the first lockdown in March 2020.

Outdoor hospitality including pubs could reopen as early as April 12, with indoor hospitality flinging their doors open no earlier than May 17.

The stay at home order will be lifted on March 29.

Schools in England are due to go back in just two weeks.

While announcing the plan the Prime Minister admitted it may receive a mixed reaction.

Some may think it is moving too slowly, others may argue it risks allowing another infections peak by going too quickly.

Our new survey goes through the plans step-by-step, asking Mirror Readers whether different stages are coming too early, too late or at the right time.

A snap Yougov poll after the announcement suggests 46 per cent of adults in England say the government's overall plan gets it about right, 26% say they are moving too quickly while 16% say too slowly.

MPs inside Johnson's own party, including deputy chairman of the Coronavirus Research Group Steve Baker, were among the harshest critics of the plan.

He said the lack of pace of the reopening programme was a "hammer blow to aviation, pubs, restaurants, hotels, gyms and pools, the arts and entertainment".

Labour leader Keir Starmer was more cautious, arguing that the lockdown could only be lifted if the virus was properly under control.

To achieve this, more than the current three in ten need to self-isolate properly, he said, and schools needed to be adapted to be better at stopping infections.

"Mr Speaker, this is the third time the Prime Minister has announced a plan to come out of a national lockdown," Starmer said.

"Each time, we’ve emerged without sufficient caution, each time without a clear plan, and without listening to the science. As a result, we’ve ended back at square one.

"This time, there are no excuses. This has to be the last lockdown."
