A lockdown legend who has kept his community’s spirits up during the covid-19 pandemic got the surprise of his life on Thursday night.
Connor Pratt - one of Scotland’s top young pipers - has honoured NHS heroes and entertained care-home residents with more than 150 free performances since the lockdown began.
He also played for hospital staff to help them celebrate anniversaries and birthdays.
But on Thursday evening the tables were turned as Conner celebrated his own 21st.
Led by a piper – locals, pals and relatives all marched to his house for a surprise party at his home in Coaltown of Balgonie, Fife.
They had earlier met up in secret at the village's Victoria Hall before marching down Connor's road.
A flabbergasted Connor was initially left dumbstruck by the fantastic gesture that celebrated his tireless work putting smiles on people's faces during lockdown.
The birthday bash was organised by his super-proud mum, Audrey, who said: “Connor has been amazing through the whole lockdown. He has played at various care homes and for NHS staff all over the place - all entirely at his own cost.
“We are very proud of him and were keen to organise a fitting surprise for his 21st birthday.”
Connor is in the second year of a music degree at the Highlands and Islands university.
And he hopes to get back to studying as soon as the lockdown restrictions allow.
