Lockdown lunches as legendary Victor Hugo Deli starts up Edinburgh delivery service

Legendary sandwich shop Victor Hugo Deli is starting an Edinburgh home delivery service – meaning lockdown lunchtime is about to get a whole lot better.

Folk will be able to enjoy the famous Victor Hugo offerings from the comfort of their own homes.

Orders can be placed on the shop's website, while a mobile app will also be launched in the coming days. They say people will be able to make their requests between 9am and 4.30pm, with the last delivery at 5pm.

Sandwiches, such as the famous Grilled Pastrami on Rye, will be on offer along with hot filled rolls, continental breakfast items, gourmet baguettes, soups, burgers, quiche and pasta. Coffee and topped waffles can also be delivered across town.

Victor Hugo Deli has been located on Melville Terrace, right next to the Meadows, since 1969. They also opened a brand new shop on the city's George Street last year.

A socially-distant takeaway service will also be running from the Melville Terrace shop, with the George Street premises closed temporarily due to coronavirus.

Those at Victor Hugo deli added that they're keen to support their local community with "cupboard essentials" such as fresh vegetables, bread, non-dairy milk, free range eggs, orange juice and more also available.

In addition, they, in partnership with Edinburgh Tea & Coffee and Bonally Farm Dairies, are offering free coffee for Edinburgh Sick Kids Hospital staff.
