Lockdown litterbugs ruining Castlemilk park with dumped rubbish

Castlemilk residents have hit out at the lockdown litterbugs who they say are ruining their local park.

Community clean-ups are now being organised to try and tidy up the rubbish, but the mess has continued to accumulate.

Resident Magda Lo Bianco has appealed for the mindless litter louts to think about what they are doing.

She told the Reformer : "The area at the park is beautiful and green, but there's rubbish there all the time.

"It's really depressing to see what's been happening in a lovely space. There's also deer, foxes and other animals all living throughout and it's quite sad to see the amount of things dumped there, because there'll be a knock-on effect on the animals living there too.

"It's not even children being careless, because most of the things we have found would belong to adults. There have been things there that have been there for ages , like car parts and shoes as well as bottles and food packaging.

"How you can be proud of your city and then do that? It's frustrating to see it."

Magda has now said she hopes to see changes in the park in the future.

"In the long run there needs more education so children know they shouldn't be doing this and being lazy by dropping things. In the short term it would be good to get more bins inside of the park, so there's more places people can use to put things in."
